WordPress 4.7 ads a CSS Editor to the Customizer

With the new CSS Editor, users will be able to make CSS changes without having to create a child theme. In this phase the Editor looks like a simple text editor, but probably in future additional features will be added. The new Editor, Additional CSS as it is labeled, doesn’t support revisions and if you want this feature you will have to add a plugin. What do you think about this feature? Are you going to use it? I think I still prefer child themes.

Custom page templates for all post types in WordPress 4.7

I think this has been long waited by everyone and it is offering the same experience as the custom page templates. This feature is opening a lot of new opportunities for developers but also for creatives who can think of alternative designs and formats for different types of posts. It took more than 4 years to have it implemented.

Pre-Compressed Emoji plugin

If you are using a lot of emoji than you need to check this plugin. WordPress emoji are not served compressed from s.w.org so a big number of them can increase the SVG loading time. Using this plugin developers will be able to change the url of the emoji images. The plugin is bringing a very good compression rate of 60% per emoji. Compressed Emoji is available in the WordPress plugin directory.
